The power of personal testimony
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” Revelation 12:11
Part of the Lord’s Prayer contains the request for God to rescue us from the evil one. One of the weapons we are given to do so occurs when the church gathers together for corporate worship. A component of the corporate gathering is the encouragement shared when we hear of how God has rescued or provided for one of our brothers or sisters.
The mood one morning at a corporate gathering seemed adrift, a bit dull, and lacking in something, at least from my perception. Then a space was made for the sharing of testimonies from those who had recently experienced God’s divine intervention in some problematic situation. Not just one, but perhaps a half dozen responded. First was a story of rescue from a dark and tangled life of regret to a genuine relationship with the light and life of Christ. Then followed stories from grateful parents of recent returned prodigals, followed by a testimony of the healing of cancer.
The room transitioned from one subdued to one alive with hearts rejoicing in God’s continued interventions and interactions with his children. Testimonies of how Jesus, the Lamb of God continues to defeat the wiles of our enemy.
Glory to God in the Highest! Whose power and authority defeats the evil one. Thank you for the continued manifestation of your rescue and care Lord Jesus. Amen.
"but rescue us from the evil one."
